Hello, my name is Dr Lorri Beauchamp, Licensed Acupuncturist, Herbalist, Doctor of Oriental Medicine specializing in pain management, chronic illness, and reproductive health and fertility.
After growing up on the west coast of Michigan, I decided to experience some international travel. While away, I became seriously ill. Once back in the states, my illness remained an elusive mystery. I was repeatedly told that my only course of action was antibiotics or steroids. I continued to deteriorate. My health care providers had no idea what the cause of my health problems really were. Frustrated and fearful I began to look for other treatment options on my own.
A combination of desperation and serendipity led me to acupuncture and Chinese medicine. After two years (it could have been much sooner, but I was not the most compliant patient in the beginning), I was healthier than I ever remembered being. This foreign medicine healed me, and opened a world of possibilities I had never previously imagined.
I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition and, eventually, my Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine from the four-year graduate program at Midwest College in Oriental College in Chicago, Illinois. Through years of intense study and over 920 clinical hours at the college’s free healthcare clinic in downtown Chicago, I discovered I had a platform for treating and educating women about their health and reproductive issues through nutrition, acupuncture, and Chinese herbal therapy.
Post-college,I successfully launched a general practice with a strong emphasis on pediatrics and women’s health. Soon I had the good fortune of being invited to practice in several highly successful fertility acupuncture centers. In the past nine years I have practiced in Chicago, Southeast Florida, and in Michigan. Although practicing pain management, anxiety disorders, and chronic illness management, my ABORM (American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine) certification has guided me closer my vision of integrative women’s health and fertility. Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine is extremely effective on its own, but it also works safely in conjunction with Western medicine. I believe the future of medicine will be the merging of these two vastly different systems of medicine for the optimal health of all people.
My primary goal is to educate people much like you (and myself) and help us gain control over our own health. In addition to western medicine, there are many safe and effective treatment alternatives available for your health issues. We can explore those options together and find the most suitable treatment for your distinct situation.
I understand that each patient is an individual with a unique set of circumstances that led them to their current state of health. Together we can explore the circumstances and appropriate treatment options for you and your family.
In good health,
Dr. Lorri Beauchamp, DOM
